This is not to cast judgment upon anyone. The reality is that we all are floating in this 'normal' boat in some way. The good news is that we follow a God who sees things differently. We look to the person of Jesus and recognize that another way is possible. Together, as the church, we can discover a new normal. Our Stewardship emphasis for 2012 is a journey to find out why "Normal" doesn't always work and ways we can grow in ministry. In 2012 we will ask ourselves to consider alternatives to a normal faith, a normal approach to how we spend our time, and the normal way we view our material possessions. As a part of this journey, we are asking you to consider how you will commit to taking our shared ministry well beyond the normal status quo level. Please click on the "When Normal Doesn't Work" button at the top of this page and prayerfully complete the 2011 Pledge Form as we journey together the next three weeks. You can send it to the Financial Manager or place it in the offering plate on any Sunday morning. How will you engage your faith more deeply in 2012? How will you arrange your time to make an impact in and through our community? How will you commit your financial resources to see our ministry flourish? |
It can be hard to be different. Many of us have often said, "I just want to fit in," or "I just want to be normal." What is normal, really? The normal American is over worked, deeply stressed, financially indebted, time crunched, generically religious and relationally challenged. It seems that normal doesn't really seem to be working anymore. |
